In August of 2015, Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock shocked the country music world with the news of their separation after 26 years of marriage. To date, McEntire has stayed quiet about the end of their relationship except to confirm the finalization of the divorce in a Facebook page in December.
"Narvel and I are divorced. It was final October 28," the 60-year old singer wrote in the comment section of a photo she shared on Facebook. Fans shared their thoughts and well wishes which garnered another response from Reba who said, "Thanks for all of those sweet messages. Narvel and I are friends. We have always been."
Earlier today, CMT's Cody Alan shared a clip of a phone interview he conducted with Reba in which she addressed her divorce and how she dealt with the pain of it. When asked what advice she had for others who are going through "relationship evolutions", she responded candidly that the divorce wasn't her idea. "I didn't want it in any shape, form, or fashion so it was really hard to make the adjustment."
Reba goes on to share that she just wants everybody to be happy, even if that means that somebody needs to leave. "When someone's not happy...I just want everybody to be happy in their lives because our lives are too short to be miserable. I just thought it was the best thing to take my marbles and play somewhere else, is what daddy used to always say."
McEntire credits God, for helping her get through the rough days. "I prayed every day to help me have the strength to move one foot in front of the other and continue on with what I'm supposed to be doing. He put me on this Earth in the first place." Reba was also blessed with a team of friends and family that supported her. "You've got to have a great team of people around you that you love, that love you. And I'm very blessed to have those people and I thank God for it all."
