With the 2016 campaign fully underway, many celebrities have stepped up to endorse their favorite candidate. However, one person you won't be hearing an endorsement from is Willie Nelson.
Don't get Nelson wrong, he enjoys watching politics, he's just not going to endorse anyone this year. But that doesn't mean that he's staying completely silent.
During an interview with ABC KSAT 12 at his ranch in Texas, Nelson shared his honest view of the presidential race so far.
"It’s the funniest damn thing I’ve ever seen in my life," he said. "I’ve seen the circus a few times but this beats any circus I’ve ever seen."
In Nelson's opinion, he feels like the remaining candidates are focusing too much on bashing one another, which he doesn't quite understand.
"Seems like they’re just tearing each other down," he said. "They can’t wait to say something negative about somebody and then they want us to go out and vote for 'em."
Nelson's sure to keep his eyes on the race as it continues, but right now he's looking forward to touring and celebrating his 83rd birthday next month. He also just released his much-anticipated album, called Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin on February 26.
"I seem to be doing pretty good," Nelson said, and we'd certainly have to agree! You can tune in below to hear him perform his version of the classic song "Someone to Watch Over Me," which is featured on his new album.
What do you think of Nelson's comments on this year's presidential race?
