Tristan McIntosh Gets Standing Ovation After Vince Gill Cover On ‘Idol’

American Idol/Fox/YouTube

15-year old country singer Tristan McIntosh found her way into our hearts after her emotional American Idol audition in which her military mom, who had been stationed overseas, surprised her by showing up at the audition.

“Do you think I would miss this for the world?” Major Amy McIntosh said to her daughter. “Do you really think i would miss this?”

Tristan has earned her way into American Idol’s Top 8 and this week delivered a performance that made us fall in love with her all over again. Accompanying herself on the piano, the singer performed Vince Gill‘s heart-rending ballad “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” The performance earned McIntosh a standing ovation from judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez and received high praise from Harry Connick Jr.

“You really are a country singer,” Connick told her. “I love when you sing country songs.”

Urban took to Twitter following last night’s episode of American Idol to praise McIntosh’s performance and thank Vince Gill for penning such an incredible song.
