The world was shaken just last week when we learned that beloved country singer, Joey Feek, had passed away at just 40-years-old from a long battle with cancer.
In the days that have followed, there has been an outpouring of support from the entire country music community for her family during this time.
One of the best-known and most adored country music stars, Dolly Parton, speaks out in a statement expressing how hard the news of Joey's passing had hit her and opens up about the music that they shared.
It had long been known that Joey had loved to perform many of Dolly's hits and had looked up to the superstar since she was just four years old. Just a few short months before her passing, Dolly even surprised her with an amazing and special video that made one of Joey's biggest dreams come true.
In a recent statement, Dolly addressed the passing of that beautiful country singer that so many of us loved.
"Joey was such a sweet sweet person. They had a really wonderful thing going," Dolly began. "I was just so sorry that she had to be taken, but I guess the Lord needed her more than we did. She was a big fan of mine and I was really touched by that. I kept trying to get there to see her, but I did make her a video and I sent it out to her and they say she was real happy with that."
"When I heard she had passed it really hit me like a relative. It really made my heart sad. But, she handled that so well, she and Rory. They had a wonderful way to deal with such a thing as that. To leave behind a little child. It's a sad thing. But, she's watching. She's up there. We love her. I'm sorry to hear that she passed."
It is clear that her sentiment is echoed by the entire country music community and all of us are sending our love, thoughts, and prayers to the Feek family during their difficult time.
