Many people are looking to Kelly Clarkson for answers about Dr. Luke. The record producer is in the midst of a legal battle with pop singer Kesha, who has accused Luke of sexual assault.
Clarkson has been clear that she never felt sexually pursued by Luke, but he wasn't her favorite producer to work with. Clarkson talked about her experience, and the Kesha case on the Kyle and Jackie O Show.
“I don’t know what happened specifically in their situation. Obviously, I wasn’t in the room. But I can remark on his character.”
When the radio hosts asked Clarkson to clarify her experience with the producer, she said, “I’ve run into a couple of really bad situations. Musically, it’s really hard for me because he’ll just lie to people, and it makes the artist look bad. He’s kind of difficult to work with and kind of demeaning. It’s kind of unfortunate.”
Kesha fans were disappointed that Clarkson didn't defend the pop star, but she has since made it clear that her experience with Luke was "very different".
“I only worked with him because I literally got blackmailed by my label,” she said. “They were like, ‘We will not put your album out if you don’t do this.”
That record deal has since concluded. By releasing her seventh album, Piece by Piece, Clarkson fulfilled the record contract with RCA that she won during the first season of American Idol. As for Kesha? She must continue to work with Luke until her record contract is fulfilled.
