On Monday night (Mar. 14) The Voice wrapped up its final round of blind auditions for Season 10. With the teams filling up, the coaches were in search of truly special artists, and one contestant named Katie Basden was exactly what they were looking for.
Basden, who's from Durham, North Carolina, is a country girl with a rocker vibe. That's why for her blind audition, it was a no brainer for her to perform the classic song "Midnight Rider" by the Allman Brothers Band.
Although the Allman Brothers never released "Midnight Rider" as a single, subsequent covers of the song performed well on the Billboard charts. In fact, it was Greg Allman's solo version of the song that was the highest success on the charts.
During her performance, Basden stunned the judges with her powerful, crystal clear voice and limitless range. Three coaches ended up turning around for her, and coach Blake Shelton would have hit his button too, but his team was already full.
The three remaining coaches fought hard to have Basden on their team, and she ended up choosing Adam Levine as her coach.
Later on in the show, Basden competed in the battle rounds with her teammate, Ryan Quinn, for a duet of "Maybe I'm Amazed." Although Basden lost the battle, she was stolen by the coach who wasn't able to turn his chair for her the first time.
That's right, Basden is now on Shelton's team!
Tune in below to watch the performance that started it all for Basden. We can't wait to see what else she has to offer on The Voice this season!
