Country fans at the South by Southwest festival knew they'd have the chance to see some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Loretta Lynn, Kacey Musgraves, and Maren Morris. But they were in for a huge surprise on Tuesday night (Mar. 15) when the King of Country Music stopped by.
That's right, George Strait made a surprise appearance at the festival during a birthday bash for western swing singer Ray Benson. He performed a short set at the bash, which included "Troubador," "All My Exes Live in Texas," and "Here for a Good Time."
Besides his surprise performance, Strait also donated a few items to a silent auction at the festival for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.
Strait wasn't the only country superstar to make a surprise appearance at the festival. On Sunday (Mar. 13), Willie Nelson stopped by the Spotify House music venue, much to the delight of country fans. Since the festival is in Texas, Nelson is hosting an event at his ranch to coordinate with it, which will include a wealth of musical talent.
The festival runs through March 20, which makes us wonder if any other country stars will make a surprise visit in the next few days. You can tune in below to watch a short clip from Strait's surprise appearance.
Nothing beats being surprised by the King of Country himself!
