On January 15, 2016, Casey McAbee's life was forever changed when she was involved in a skiing accident. Casey, who is a mother to a three year old boy, suffered a traumatic brain injury, and was placed in a medically-induced coma.
For a while, Casey's family had their doubts about her being able to recover. But much to everyone's surprise, she is now awake, and has even started singing.
Prior to her accident, Casey had just purchased tickets to a concert for her favorite country star, Blake Shelton. But after the accident, Casey's family didn't know if she'd ever wake up again, let alone remember her favorite songs by Blake.
In what can only be described as a miracle, Casey's sister shared that after being unresponsive for weeks, and having multiple broken bones, Casey heard Blake's "God Gave Me You," and started singing along, never missing a word.
Casy's sister also shared a video of her singing the song, and reached out to Blake hoping he would be able to see how much of an impact his music has had on her sister.
"Please help retweet so Blake can see the magic within his music!" Casey's sister wrote. "My sister is delayed but sings with Blake on cue."
Just as Casey's sister hoped, the video made its way to Blake, and he responded, showing how touched he was by hearing Casey sing his song.
Casey's story is truly inspiring! If you want to keep up with her journey, you can follow it on her Caring Bridge page.
We join Blake in sending our heartfelt prayers for Casey's recovery.
