34-year-old Danica Patrick has been in the news quite a bit in recent weeks. First for a crash caused by a fellow NASCAR colleague and her subsequent reaction, and secondly for the punishment handed down by the racing league's governing body.
Following the crash, she had walked toward the race track which has always been frowned upon, but following the 2014 death of a 20-year-old driver, has become a huge offense, and one that cost Danica a four-race probation and $20,000 fine.
Now, the award-winning leading female driver is dotting papers with news about how she's avoided being fined off the track.
In an episode of NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly, the racing star admitted to using her worldwide fame and status to escape speeding tickets.
"Yes, I have gotten out of tickets because of who I am," she revealed in the clip. "I have also not gotten out of tickets because of who I am."
"The most common way I get out of a ticket is when they notice right away [who I am]," she continued. "Usually they laugh...and they're like, 'Well, just slow down.'"
But Danica's evasion of speeding tickets doesn't stop there. She also has crafted a new way to possibly avoid that annoying fine we all have gotten (or been close to getting).
"This has crossed my mind many times," Danica began. "When I get pulled over, [I] should pull out my FIA racing license and hand that to them, because they don't have one of those!"
"'Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you wanted my highest level driving license'", she joked further.
At least this racing star has a good sense of humor about it!
