Country fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of Keith Urban's upcoming studio album, Ripcord, for quite some time now. Over the past year, Urban has released bits and pieces of information about the album, which is set for release on May 6.
Last year, Urban released the first two singles off of Ripcord, "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16" and "Break On Me," both of which were major hits on the charts. After five months since his last single's release, Urban finally revealed his third on Tuesday (Mar. 29), which is titled "Wasted Time."
Co-written by Urban, Greg Wells, and J. Hart, the song is the ultimate summertime anthem, as it celebrates the season and the freedom that comes along with it.
"We were talking about growing up and all the things you do, no matter where you are in the world, and the song just took off from there," Urban said in a press release.
The lyrics convey those shared youthful memories, as Urban sings, "When I think about those summer nights/Singin’ out the window on the back roads/‘Sweet Child Of Mine’.../Ain't it funny how the best days of my life/Was all that wasted time."
With its upbeat tempo and fun-loving lyrics, we think "Wasted Time" is set to become the signature country song of the summer. You can give it a listen in the clip below.
What are some of your fondest memories of how you "wasted time" in the summer?
