Following the release of his hit song "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem" in 2003, Kenny Chesney's fans started referring to themselves as "No Shoes Nation."
The song also kicked off Chesney's pattern of recording and releasing beach-themed, "island music," which appeals to his personal love of island life. Over the years, No Shoes Nation has continued to grow, and Chesney decided to pay them back for their support through the creation of his own radio station, No Shoes Radio.
Chesney has worked on developing No Shoes Radio over the course of eight years, which plays many of his own songs along with those from other artists. But on Tuesday (Mar. 29), Chesney made an exciting announcement about the future of the station.
As Chesney revealed in a personal message on his official website, No Shoes Radio is moving exclusively to SiriusXM Channel 62. Besides Chesney's own songs, the station will feature a wide variety of genres and artists.
"You're going to hear a lot of country, rock, reggae...a whole lot of my life wrapped into one," Chesney shared in a video message. "I'd like to say No Shoes Nation has one voice, and that is No Shoes Radio."
Chesney went on to describe the inspiration behind the creation of No Shoes Radio, and how it represents who he is as a person:
"No Shoes Radio is such a reflection of my life. My creative spirit and soul, my life on stage and on the road. This radio station is also a reflection of my life on the islands, years spent watching the sun move across the sky on my boat."
Those who want to listen to No Shoes Radio can do so in the car, at home, or through the SiriusXM app. The channel will be made available to North American listeners in less than a month, on April 12. You can check out Chesney's video below to learn more about the move.
Congratulations to Chesney and No Shoes Nation! We can't wait to tune in to No Shoes Radio on its new home.
