Duck Dynasty's Sadie Robertson made her film debut in God's Not Dead 2, which opened in theaters on Friday, April 1st.
The film tells the story of high school teacher Grace Wesley, who gets in trouble for answering a student's question and referencing a bible verse. A student in her class texts his mom, who becomes livid and sues Wesley.
Robertson plays Maureen, one of Wesley's students and says that her first movie role was "perfect".
“I've been kind of easing my way into movies," she told Entertainment Tonight at the LA premiere. "This was the perfect way to do it, with something that means something to me."
The movie had a $5 million budget, just like the first installment, which grossed $60 million. After opening weekend, God's Not Dead 2 landed in the Top 5 highest grossing films for the weekend of April 1-3.
It raked in $8 million, which put it at the fourth spot. The top three films were Batman v. Superman, Zootopia, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.
Congratulations to Robertson and everyone involved in God's Not Dead 2 on a very successful opening weekend!
