Although the legendary singer had some gall when he was a rowdy youngster, that air of confidence didn't cross over into self acceptance and it wasn't until much later in his life that he realized that.
In an interview with Rachel Brodsky, Haggard admits that the confidence people are hearing in his songs is true and from the heart.
