3. "Hello Darlin'" (1970)

Written and recorded by one of the most beloved country legends, Conway Twitty, this hit tune is sure to get you singing along immediately with it's instantly recognizable intro.

Twitty used "Hello Darlin'" as his famous concert opening song and it became the most famous signature hit of his solo career.

During his recording session, the singer began by singing the opening line, but it never seemed to stick or fit well with the song. His producer at the time suggested he speak the lines instead. This spoken opener became one of the best known lines in music history.

After spending a month at the top of the charts, the track was named the No. 1 song of the year for 1970.
