Ever since 1966, Charley Pride has captivated the country community with his polished voice and endless hit songs. Pride is the voice behind some of the most-beloved country classics, including "Is Anybody Goin' To San Antone," "Where Do I Put Her Memory," and "Kiss An Angel Good Mornin'."
Pride's talent has helped him earn numerous awards over the years, including three Grammys and the CMA's prestigious Entertainer of the Year Award. He is also a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry, an especially notable recognition since he is one of only three African American members (Darius Rucker and DeFord Bailey are the others).
After 50 years in the industry, Pride is still going strong, and he continues to perform at various venues around the world. In recent years, he's toured the U.S., Canada, Ireland, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
In celebration of his 50th anniversary in the recording industry, Pride thrilled country fans everywhere when he announced on Thursday (April 28) that he plans to go on a major tour in 2016.
In a press release, Pride revealed that he plans on singing all of his fans' favorite songs during the tour. Pride's tour will take him across the U.S. and Canada, and includes two performances at the Grand Ole Opry. Pride is looking forward to the tour, and is thankful that he's had the opportunity to keep singing for so long.
"I feel blessed that I'm still going strong after 50 years," Pride said. "I've always loved to sing for audiences and that's never going to change."
