Immediately following a race that saw over 30 of the world's best racing stars wreck and 12 of them get removed from the competition, one driver speaks out to reveal his feelings about it all.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup GEICO 500 took place on Sunday, May 1st and saw more crashes than people likely anticipated. That being said, Talladega is a place where people go to see cars crash, but this got a little bit excessive.
On lap 96, young racing star, Chris Buescher and his No. 34 Ford Fusion were entangled in a seven-car crash that sent him flying through the sky - somersaulting end-over-end.
He is lucky to be alive.
Buescher landed on his wheels and lived to tell the tale, but he didn't appear too keen on moving forward with racing...
“I saw it happening in front of us and checked up and the next thing I knew I was upside down,” said Buescher. “I am pretty sick and tired of speedway racing at this point."
He definitely got the worst of it this time, and from the video it looks like a harrowing experience.
After watching the crash playback, the 23-year-old admitted that the whole thing had caught him off guard - especially since he wasn't directly involved in the original collision.
“I just saw the replay,” he said. “It was so quick I never had any time to react. We got clipped in the right rear and as soon as it turned it went up on its lid. I thought we were clear of the wreck.”
It's unclear what direction Buescher will take his career, but let us know what y'all think in the comments.
