Loretta Lynn was "born a coal miner's daughter" in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, as the second child to Theodore and Clara Webb. She married Oliver "Doolittle" Lynn when she was 15, and five years later he gave Lynn her first guitar.
Lynn taught herself to play guitar, and from that moment on had herself set on the path to stardom. She is now the most-awarded female artist in country music history, and her most recent album, Full Circle, broke into the Top 5 on the Billboard charts. Her life story was also the subject of a recent PBS documentary, which was a huge hit with audiences.
