This was not something anybody saw coming.
According to Entertainment Weekly, ABC has announced that they will be canceling a few of the nation's beloved shows - including Nashville.
The Lionsgate TV and ABC Studios-produced show premiered in 2012 and gained a large fan following in its four seasons. The cast went on tour this spring and ABC has filmed Nashville-themed TV music specials, and soundtracks.
The season four finale on Wednesday, May 25 will now serve as the series finale. The cancellation comes as a shock to fans because ABC network president Paul Lee told reporters in January 2016 that they did not "have any plans to finish Nashville".
“We have an incredibly passionate audience," he said. "The Nashville audience grows by a large amount in our delay viewings. No, at this point, no plans for Nashville other than to keep it going.”
Since then, Lee has stepped down as president, according to tvline.com, due to "losing a power-struggle with a higher-ranking executive."
Deadline reports that Lionsgate TV will be shopping the show to other potential networks.
Sadly, we will have to say goodbye to our favorite TV characters and actors who have been able to showcase more than one talent, as they do all their own singing on the show.
Fans have not been taking this well and have been expressing their dislike on social media.

Bad bad move ABC. Have you lost your minds?! Nashville was money for you! #BringBackNashville— Taylor Rafferty (@tayrafferty) May 13, 2016
Even Nashville's mayor is not happy with this.
