Before the world knew that fellow Voice coaches, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were officially dating, there was surely some courtship happening between the two, and some strong efforts from Blake to impress his would-be girlfriend.
What do you think the country crooner would go to for a good impression? A fashionable suit? Great vocals during a concert? Or a dazzling new gift? The answer just might surprise you.
"I was thinking, 'Man, I need to show her!" Shelton revealed to Access Hollywood. "'That I can do that too!'"
The longtime country star confesses that he was writing a song for Gwen to prove to her that he could! He wanted it to be great, and he says that her "No. 1, favorite thing to do" is songwriting.
"[I'm] very serious," Blake said. "I actually started the song just to impress her!"
Talking about one of his most recent releases, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart", he says that he started writing the song and then sent it to her only partly finished. Days later, Gwen replied to his message with a completed version of the song -- as a duet!
After showing it to all their friends and family (who loved it), the pair decided to record it and put it on the album because, as Blake says, "it's a part of this story".
Of course every gal dreams that their crush would write them a song and that's exactly what Blake did for Gwen. Obviously it worked, because they cannot stop gushing over one another!
