Ever since Glen Campbell announced he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, country fans have followed his sad story from his Farewell Tour to when he was placed in a long-term care facility in Nashville. In March, Campbell's wife, Kim, revealed he is now in the final stage of the disease, saying he has trouble with awareness and communication.
However, in what can only be described as an extraordinary moment, Glen recently remembered someone special in his life when he came by for a visit.
Glen and Kim have three children of their own, but Glen also has five other children from his previous marriages. Two of his oldest children, Debby and Travis, have made the news lately due to a new law that was initiated in Tennessee on Monday (May 16).
Debby and Travis claim that since their father has been in the care facility, Kim has prevented them from being able to visit him or participate in his care. But the new law "protects a person who have become wards of the State or who have conservators controlling their finances, day to day living, and visitation." In other words, Debby, Travis, and others in similar situations across the state have free visitation with their loved ones.
Since the law passed, Debby and Travis have taken full advantage of their new visitation rights. Debby stopped by to visit her father on Tuesday, and shared a heartwarming photo of the two of them with her fans. She didn't write a caption, but we think the look on her and Glen's faces speak for themselves.
Travis also had the chance to visit his father, and what happened next will bring tears to your eyes.
A Facebook page called Help Glen Campbell shared Travis' story from his visit with his father. Travis was happy to share that when he saw Glen, he was able to communicate with him, and what he said is truly touching:
"Had a great visit with dad today, my heart melted when he was looking right in my eyes, a big smile came over his face and he said, 'I sure love you son.'"
Travis must have been so happy when he realized that Glen recognized him. We hope that both Debby and Travis will be able to enjoy many more special visits with Glen over time.
Please continue to keep Glen and his entire family in your prayers.
