The movie, titled The Price, stars Dupre as Jonah Anderson, a young aspiring singer who idolizes Travis' character, Roy Taggert, a country legend.
Dupre's character learns of a secret his mother, played by Travis's real-life wife, Mary, has kept for 29 years: he is Roy Taggert's son.
Of working with Travis, Dupre tells Rolling Stone it was a "dream come true".
"I remember the first day he showed up on set, I was really excited to meet him and unsure what to expect," he said. "Before I even had a chance to worry, he came up to me and shook my hand, pulled out his guitar and said he wanted to show me a new song he'd written. I couldn't believe it! So we jammed out for a bit, then went to work."
Dupre appeared on The Voice during Season 9, turning all four chairs in his blind audition. Previously, he was signed to Warner Music Nashville and was a YouTube star discovered by Ellen DeGeneres.
We're so happy this movie is coming out! Travis is such a talented actor and it's one of his last works before his stroke.
The Price will be available on DVD June 15. You can preorder your copy here.
