4. "Love is a Battlefield" - Pat Benatar

 Performed as her "Top 8" song choice during 'Idol', Carrie delivered a wildly different song than what the audience was expecting. Not only did the crowd go wild, but Paula Abdul did too. 

The other two judges, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson weren't so favorable, but it's likely they were just trying to push her toward stardom even more by picking it apart. 

Either way, she's made her way into the heart of America and is known as one of the most talented vocalists in today's music. 

The song first was released by Pat Benatar in 1983, and topped the charts - becoming Benatar's second single to sell more than a million copies and earned her a 4th Grammy Award the following year.
