On Wednesday morning (June 1), Billy Ray Cyrus stopped by The Today Show during Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb's hour to talk about his upcoming TV show Still The King and his mullet, of course!
He also confirmed a rumor that's been going around. He will be performing at the CMT Awards!
The CMT Awards, which take place Wednesday, June 8, will feature performances by Blake Shelton with The Oak Ridge Boys, Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett and a special performance by Cyrus and a rock band he's been idolizing for years.
The band is none other than the newest Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Cheap Trick!
"I've been a big Cheap Trick Fan for a long time," he said in the interview. "And we're gonna perform together at the CMT Awards."
When asked if he could give any details as to what song they'd be performing, he tried to be coy.
"They had a big hit with 'Don't Be Cruel', so maybe the Elvis thing kind of fits in, but it's still to be determined," he teased.
The "Elvis thing" he's talking about is his character on Still The King, who is a washed-up country singer-turned Elvis impersonator. Make sure you check out the trailer here and watch the series premiere on June 12!
Watch Cyrus' full interview below and you'll find out if his mullet is here to stay!
