In 2010, Miley Cyrus was at the peak of her career when she starred in the Nicholas Sparks movie The Last Song.
Throughout the filming process, she and co-star Liam Hemsworth began a relationship and ended up getting engaged in June 2012, when Cyrus was 19 years old and Hemsworth was 22.
They ended the engagement in September 2013, but never really revealed the reason why, until now.
They rekindled their romance recently and Cyrus has been spotted wearing the engagement ring Hemsworth gave her in 2012, which has raised some eyebrows.
Hemsworth is on the cover of the June/July issue of GQ Australia and he is finally opening up about his 2013 split from Cyrus.
"At the time we were going in different directions and it's just what needed to happen," Hemsworth tells GQ. "We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time—we both needed that."
Although he does admit the break up was "hard", he does note that the public will figure out their current relationship status.
"People will figure it out, they already have...They're not dumb," he says.
Now at 23 and 26, Cyrus and Hemsworth have both grown, dated other people, and found their way back to each other.
