Parton was driving home when she heard Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You" for the first time. It wasn't until Houston got to the chorus that Parton realized it was her song she was singing.
As it turns out, Parton had never been told that Houston recorded the song, so it took her completely by surprise. In fact, she was so blown away that she admits she almost wrecked her car when she heard Houston's voice singing the words she wrote so many years before.
"My heart almost just popped. It was such an overwhelming feeling to hear it done so great, with such a great and huge production, and with her voice. That was amazing," she once said during an interview about the song.
As amazing as Houston's version of the song is, it wouldn't have been possible without its talented songwriter and the original voice behind it...the one and only Dolly Parton.
