The entire nation was shocked when ABC announced the cancellation of the fan-favorite drama Nashville on May 12.
Fans were so outraged, they started an online petition on change.org and a social media campaign using the hashtag "#BringBackNashville"
The season 4 finale on May 25 served as the series finale on ABC, but according to a tweet from Lionsgate TV, they will not let it be the end.
The tweet had fans confused, but hopeful and their pleas to other networks did not go unheard.
The Tennessean reports that CMT is in talks with Lionsgate to pick up the country music-filled drama. It seems extremely fitting that they would continue on Country Music Television!
According to The Tennessean, if all goes well, "a deal could be announced during the CMT Music Awards, which broadcast live" Wednesday night (June 8).
Charles Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne, was interviewed at the City of Hope Softball Game on Tuesday (June 7) and seemed optimistic of a future for the show.
"Lionsgate is still in discussions that we might end up getting to make another season somewhere else," he said. "I’m extremely grateful for the four years that we had at ABC and that’s how we got to be what we are. But Lionsgate doesn’t feel, and we don’t feel that all the stories are told or all the songs are sung yet. So it’s very possible. There’s still some negotiations and they’re talking to people and we could find out any time. I have no inside knowledge, but I do know there’s still a chance."
We hope CMT and Lionsgate finalize a deal! We can't go on without knowing what happens after that finale!
