Opening up the lanes to drivers during the round of NASCAR's XFINITY Series practice, spectators, teams, and sportscasters alike were baffled when they had to shut down the track while teams restrained the animal.
The first round of practice started at Michigan International Speedway on Friday June 10th, but they didn't get off to the start they were hoping to when a weaselly animal took its turn on the track first.
The 15 minute delay was caused by a fat groundhog making a new speed record.
Yes. A groundhog.
Also known as a whistle pig or woodchuck, these critters are frequently found in the state and this one appears to be going for the gold.

As FOX Sports reports, the groundhog got loose and began running around as maintenance teams began surrounding him and chasing him about the track.
He was initially caught once by a quick-handed worker, but catapulted himself from the bucket they caught him in and the chase was on again!
After a few minutes (15 to be exact), the teams were able to scoop him up in an empty trash can and release him outside the track, but this wasn't until he gave them a run for their money by playing hide-and-seek with the safety trucks!
