Not many compare to Randy Travis

The Grammy Award winning country artist is a legend across genres with the history to prove it. His singing and songwriting talent has the ability to change lives, and songs like "He Walked On Water" is testament to that. To date, he has had 18 #1 singles, and 29 top ten hits. Not to mention, his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The emotional ballad, "He Walked On Water" was recorded by Travis in April 1990. It was the third single released from his album No Holdin' Back, and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.

The lyrics describe a man's memory of his grandfather as a boy. We all have that one person we idolized growing up, someone we believed could "walk on water". The message is touching, and Travis' live performance is heartwarming.

He takes the stage and does exactly what he does best, he connects. Believing every word he sings, Travis gives an emotional performance that we can't forget. The pictures of a grandfather with his grandson playing in the background make it all the more endearing!

LYRICS BELOW

Wore starched white shirts buttoned at the neck

And he'd sit in the shade and watch the chickens peck
And his teeth were gone, but what the heck
I thought that he walked on water

Said he was a cowboy when he was young
He could handle a rope and he was good with a gun
And my mama's daddy was his oldest son
And I thought that he walked on water

If the story was told, only heaven knows
But his hat seemed to me like an old halo
And though his wings, they were never seen
I thought that he walked on water

Then he tied a cord to the end of a mop
And said, "Son, here's a pony, keep her at a trot"
And I'd ride in circles while he laughed allot
Then I'd flop down beside him

And he was ninety years old in sixty-three
And I loved him and he loved me
And Lord, I cried the day he died
'Cause I thought that he walked on water

If the story was told, only Heaven knows
But his hat seemed to me like an old halo
And though his wings, they were never seen
I thought that he walked on water
I thought that he walked on water
