If y'all want to see a performance to remember, this is it. This star-studded line-up, featuring Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, The Judds, and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, took to the stage to pay tribute to the living legend that is the Queen of Country Music, Loretta Lynn. Let us just tell you, they honored her well with this blow-you-away performance of Loretta's signature song, "Coal Miner's Daughter" during ACM Presents Girls' Night Out in 2011.
"Coal Miner's Daughter" was both written and recorded by Loretta Lynn. The autobiographical song was released in 1970 and tells the story of Loretta's life growing up with a father who was a coal miner and how her family survived with eight kids, including Loretta, off of his salary. It reached the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
The skilled vocalists that make up this performance really dazzle the audience, as can be seen from the standing ovation they received at the end. If there's one way for a country music icon to be honored, it's this way. Loretta has obviously been the inspiration behind many women in country music, and we can see that in how beautifully they sing this song.
Well done, ladies.
