In this live performance, Dolly talks about the inspiration behind one of her most famous songs, "I Will Always Love You". In 1967, Dolly was on The Porter Wagoner Show for a five year run.
In the beginning, she told Porter that she had "come to Nashville to become my own star, to have my own group." She said she'd stay for five years because the money was so good. After the five years, it was her time to leave, though Porter was against it, so this is the song that she wrote Porter and she told him, "I just want you to know that I'll always love you," and proceeded to sing him the song.
