Garth Brooks Shares Emotional Moment With Special Olympian, Nathan Putnam

Garth Brooks keeps pulling the heartstrings of everyone around him. During his homecoming concert on January 9, 2015, Garth noticed a fan trying to get his attention while he was performing his hit song, “That Summer”.

The fan’s name is Nathan Putnam and he’s a Special Olympian medalist. He handed Garth a photograph of them both and then three of his medals. Garth, trying to hold back tears and having trouble even singing, proceeded to place each medal around his neck and in return, gave Nathan his very own guitar.

Prior to this concert, Nathan and Garth had met at the 2007 Special Olympics, where Garth had the honor of giving out the medals and that was where both of them had their photograph taken together.

As y’all probably remember, a similar situation happened last year. While performing, “The Dance”, Garth noticed a fan in the audience holding up a sign that read: Chemo This Morning. Garth Tonight. Enjoying The Dance, and she swapped her sign for his guitar. He proceeded to get emotional and deliver a heartwarming, inspirational speech.

Garth is truly a great man and always finds new ways of showing how much he adores his fans.
