Loretta Lynn's gospel performances are always something inspirational and beautiful.

It's obvious that she pours her heart and soul into the renditions, making them her very own. If y'all don't believe us, check out her singing "Ten Thousand Angels" because it's absolutely stunning.

"Ten Thousand Angels" was released on Loretta's second gospel album in 1965, titled Who Says God Is Dead!. Written by Ray Overholt, it became a well-known gospel song over the last decade or two before Loretta's rendition. Although her album only reached #44 on the Country Albums chart, it continued to sell pretty well over the years.

Ray Overholt wasn't actually a Christian when he first wrote "Ten Thousand Angels". He found God when he was performing in church and the preacher gave a message of salvation. I knew I needed Christ,” Overholt said, according to BeliefNet. “So I knelt there and accepted, as my Savior, the One whom I had been singing and writing about.

Lynn's live performance is breathtaking and beautiful. The way she sings each note is so effortless and proves why she is a pioneer of country music.

Watch her performance below.

LYRICS BELOW

They bound the hands of Jesus in the garden where he pray
They led him through the street in shame
They spat upon the Saviour so pure and free from sin
They said crucify him he's to blame

He could have called ten thousand angels to destroy the world and set him free
He could have called ten thousand angels, but he died alone for you and me

Upon his precious head they placed a crown of thorns
They laughed and said behold the king
They struck him and they cursed him and mocked his holy name
And all alone he suffered everything

He could have called ten thousand angels to destroy the world and set him free
He could have called ten thousand angels...
