What an awesome performance! Even George Strait was impressed with Jack Ingram's cover of his hit song, "All My Ex's Live In Texas" at the George Strait: ACM Artist of the Decade All Star Concert.
George Strait was named AMC Artist of the Decade for the 2000s, and to show their support, his fellow country music stars performed some of his greatest hits. One of the many fun performances was that of Jack Ingram, who livened up the crowd with his exciting rendition of "All My Ex's Live in Texas". The song, which was released in 1987, made it to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
The fun and upbeat song tells a story of a man who has ex-girlfriends living in various parts of Texas. And although he loves and misses living in Texas, he's decided to spend some time hiding out in Tennessee. We think that's probably a good idea.
Check out Jack Ingram's cover of this classic George Strait song, and you won't be let down!
All my ex's live in Texas,
And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.
Rosanna's down in Texarcana; wanted me to push her broom,
And sweet Ilene's in Abilene; she forgot I hung the moon,
And Allison in Galveston somehow lost her sanity,
And Dimples who now lives in Temple's got the law lookin' for me.
I remember that old Frio river where I learned to swim.
And it brings to mind another time where I wore my welcome thin.
My transcendental meditation, I go there each night,
But I always come back to myself long before daylight.
Some folks think I'm hidin',
It's been rumored that I died,
But I'm alive and well in Tennessee.
