Wednesday night at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, rocker Jack White's Lazaretto tour set up for a two-hour set, chock full of excitement and surprises. Hands down, the best surprise of the night was classic country icon Loretta Lynn coming onstage to perform.

One surprise for a crowd that, for the most part, was there in support of Jack's new album, is that Loretta is 82 years young. Besides a few brief moments when the songstress sat down onstage to rest, she was enthusiastically instructing the crowd to holler out songs they wanted her to sing. And, sticking to her word, she'd strike up the band, launching into classics such as You Ain't Woman Enough (To Take My Man), The Pill, and Whispering Sea, the second song she ever wrote.

"My nose is running like a freight train", Loretta explained after what must have been an exhaustive hour onstage.

11 years ago Jack (The White Stripes, Raconteurs) produced the grammy-winning comeback album "Van Lear Rose" for Loretta, and the pair seamlessly fell into place on Wednesday, trading lines from the album's hit Portland, Oregon.

Loretta received a standing ovation walking on and off the stage. It's likely there were quite a few concert-goers that walked in not knowing who Loretta Lynn was but left the venue a newfound fan of the country legend.

"Bless your hearts," Loretta said to the audinece as she tenderly blew them a kiss good night.

Check out the video below to see Loretta Lynn and Jack White performing the duo's hit Portland, OR, and Whispering Sea.

PORTLAND, OR

Well Portland Oregon and sloe gin fizz
If that ain't love then tell me what is
Well I lost my heart it didn't take no time
But that ain't all. I lost my mind in Oregon

In a booth in the corner with the lights down low
I was movin' in fast she was takin' it slow
Well I looked at him and caught him lookin' at me
I knew right then we were playin' free in Oregon

Next day we knew last night got drunk
But we loved enough for the both of us
In the morning when the night had sobered up
It was much too late for the both of us in Oregon

Well sloe gin fizz works might fast
When you drink it by the pitcher and not by the glass
Hey bartender before you close
Pour us one more drink and a pitcher to go

And a pitcher to go

WHISPERING SEA

I sat down by the sea and it whispered to me
It brought back an old love affair that used to be
It told me that you had found someone new
And lead me to cry over you

Whispering sea rolling by why don't you listen to me cry?
I cry because my love has proved untrue
Oh, how I love him so, no one will ever know
No one but the drifting, whispering sea

Well, I thought I'd left behind all his love but I was blind
I should have known that there was no use to be caring
I thought a new love I would find, that you'd never cross my mind
But the whispering sea, it talked to me

Whispering sea rolling by why don't you listen to me cry
I cry because my love has proved untrue
Oh, how I love him so, no one will ever know
No one but the drifting, whispering sea
