Alan and Denise Jackson share the story behind 'First Love' and Alan's Thunderbird, Live at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Fans of Alan Jackson who know the song will remember the story:
"My first love was an older woman
There's been many since
But there'll never be another
Built in 1955, snowshoe white, overdrive
I never should've sold her, I'll always love her
She was mine"
In the song, Alan talks about his 1955 Thunderbird that he bought at the age of just 15 but ended up selling.
Denise Jackson explains that if it wasn't for that car (and a new hair style, apparently) she might not have even started dating Alan.
But, partially thanks to the Thunderbird, she did! And the rest is history! The two got married in 1979 and once they had children, Alan decided to sell his beloved "first love" so that they could buy a house.
Years later, when Alan's music career started to take off, Denise tracked down the car and bought it back for Alan, since she knew how much he loved it and what a sacrifice it was for him to sell it.
