"Little Toy Guns", Carrie Underwood's newest single, was performed for the first time to an intimate audience in December at New York City's iHeartRadio Release Party. The release show was for her 25-song album Greatest Hits: Decade #1.
Then on January 30, she tugged at her Facebook followers' heartstrings with the release of the official video on her site, stating,
"As a special thanks for all of your support over the years, I want YOU to be the first to see my brand new video for ‘Little Toy Guns!'"
The video centers on a young girl who is stuck in the middle of her parents constantly bickering. Later on she turns into a warrior in a majestic forest, and reunites with her parents. There is an emblematic glow as Carrie enters the forest towards the end of the video-- perhaps depicting an angelic calm in the midst of the chaos with the girl and her parents.
The song is originally written by Carrie, with help from songwriters Chris DeStefano and Hillary Lindsey.
You will love this song because it has an extremely personal, important message, and Carrie's conviction shines through in her powerhouse vocals. Apparently the lyrics (Mom & Daddy just won't stop it, / Fighting at the drop of a faucet... / I wish words were like little toy guns / No sting, no hurting no one / Just a bang, bang rolling off your tonuge...) are inspired by real people, however Carrie has yet to elaborate on this.
The song is already hugely successful, and there is no doubt going to be Grammy buzz around this incredible track.
