Randy Travis has a voice that always captures our attention! Once again, he has wowed us with his song "Point Of Light".
"Point Of Light" was released in 1991 from Randy's album High Lonesome. As usual, Randy created a hit song, and it peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
The song has an interesting story since it was originally written for President George H.W. Bush’s volunteerism campaign called the "Thousand Points of Light" program. This program was meant to inspire citizens to take initiative and volunteer in their community. During President Bush's term, he handed out "Point of Light Awards" six days a week to volunteers who were proving to be a "point of light" in their community. Randy made the message of this song very clear, and we can sum it up in one of his best lines, "If you see what's wrong and you try to make it right, you will be a point of light".
Let's be honest, what is better than having Randy Travis sing your campaign song?! We don't think there is anything better than that. His passionate and stimulating voice was a perfect match for this campaign.
