In early December, Luke Bryan dealt with another devastating loss in the family; his brother-in-law suddenly passed away, leaving three kids behind orphaned.

Luke explained in an ABC News interview, "We feel like if we just stay positive through this, maybe we'll be a positive inspiration for people that had these things happen to 'em. You just have to plow on and play the hand that's dealt."

Luke's 13-year-old nephew, Til, is coming to live with Luke, his wife, and their two sons, Bo and Tate, in Nashville. We imagine this will likely result in the permanent adoption of Till into the Bryan family household. The other two orphaned children are older, so they visit often, which makes Luke grateful and happy because he has the means to fly them back and forth.

Luke explained in the interview below, "
It's every day on the phone all day trying to talk with the family and figure out what to do, but it's what you gotta do."

Unfortunately, Luke is no stranger to family loss and heartache. In 1996, Luke lost his older brother in a car accident, and in 2007, Luke lost his sister suddenly to undetermined causes. As you can imagine, Luke uses music as a way of coping with heartache and the emotion in his life. Dealing with such intense family tragedy, and never really being able to say "goodbye" to his siblings, Luke wrote this song, "Drink A Beer" in November 2013 as tribute to his deceased siblings.

In the video below, you can see the emotional heartbreak Luke is going through by the way he sings and performs through tear-filled eyes.

When I got the news today
I didn't know what to say.
So I just hung up the phone.

I took a walk to clear my head,
This is where the walking led
Can't believe you're really gone
Don't feel like going home

So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer

Funny how the good ones go
Too soon, but the good Lord knows
The reasons why, I guess

Sometimes the greater plan
Is kinda hard to understand
Right now it don't make sense
I can't make it all make sense

So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer

So long my friend
Until we meet again
I'll remember you
And all the times that we used to...

... sit right here on the edge of this pier
And watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer
Drink a beer,
Drink a beer.
Yeah
