There probably isn't a person out there that doesn't know Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart". It's perhaps one of the most memorable country songs of the nineties that earned the title of Cyrus' signature song.

"Achy Breaky Heart" was written by Don Von Tress and was originally titled "Don't Tell My Heart" and recorded by The Marcy Brothers. A year later, in 1992, the title was changed and it was released by Billy Ray on his Some Gave All album. It was his debut single and also his most popular and successful song. It charted worldwide, peaking at #1 on four different charts, including the US Hot Country Songs (Billboard) chart. It has been both covered and parodied several times as well.

This song wasn't 100% praised though, as there were many critics out there that didn't care for it one bit. But what we can't deny is that it was a big hit and is one extremely catchy tune that we all probably know the words to. It tells the tale of a broken-hearted man that's in a sort of denial. You can tell the world, his friends, his clothes that she know longer wants him, but if his heart is told the truth, that's when things will get bad. The entertaining music video was recorded during one of his concerts, featuring Billy Ray sporting his mullet-ponytail and his audience line dancing before the stage.

Check out this classic nineties song. Though the meaning behind the song is anything but, it really always proves to be such a fun listen.

+++++++++++ LYRICS BELOW +++++++++++

You can tell the world you never was my girl
You can burn my clothes up when I'm gone
You can tell your friends just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone
You can tell my arms go back to the farm
You can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lips to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more

But don't tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man

You can tell your mom I moved to Arkansas
You can tell your dog to bite my leg
Or tell your brother Cliff whose fist can tell my lip
He never really liked me anyway

Or tell your Aunt Louise, tell anything you please
Myself already knows I'm not OK.
Or you can tell my eyes to watch out for my mind
It might be walking out on me today

But don't tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man

Don't tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man

Don't tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
