"I think country is the new rock & roll," Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler said in a recent interview.
Steven recently surprised guests in attendance at the Grand Ole Opry when he dropped in to tease his upcoming country album.
It's now confirmed that Steven did in fact sign on with Dot Records to premiere a debut solo country album.
No specific release date or title has been made public, but we can tell you that the album is set to be released late 2015. In preparation for the new album, Steven has already collaborated with some of Nashville's top producers, including Dot Records-head Scott Borchetta.
"My earliest influences put me somewhere between theEverly Brothersand theCarter Family," Steven revealed in a recent interview. "This project is all about me paying homage to my country roots." And, he adds, "I've been working with some f***ing epic Nashville songwriters, getting my feet wet with the style and groove."
Considering what a powerhouse Steven has been in Aerosmith, it may surprise some to hear that such traditional styles of country are influencing the new solo work.
We're excited to see Steven take this risk, and can't wait to see what kind of surprises he has up his sleeve. Check out this epic performance by Steven and country superstar Carrie Underwood for CMT's show Crossroads.
