George Strait truly is the King of Country! And as always, he has blown us away with his hit song, "Famous Last Words of A Fool".
The song was released by George in January of 1988 from his album, If You Ain't Lovin', You Ain't Livin'. The song was an international success (obviously, it's George Strait) and reached #1 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart. Oh George, you've outdone yourself once again- but we're glad you did!
The song tells the sad tale of fool in love. He tells us his lover has left him, and how instead of confessing his true feelings for her, he says spiteful things like, "I told her I wouldn't miss her at all as she walked to the door / I couldn't care less if she didn't care anymore", he admits though, "With tears in my eyes I lied I was glad we were through". These really are last words of a fool, and the song is a powerful reminder to always express our true feelings... before it's too late!
