Patsy Cline’s Emotional Recording of “Sweet Dreams”

Patsy Cline is a country music icon that will never be forgotten. Her unique tone and effortless ability to showcase emotion in her vocals is something to be cherished. Although Patsy’s life was cut short by her death in a 1963 plane crash, her music still live on to this day. We can only imagine the success she would have had if she’d lived longer.

In the decades since the crash, Patsy’s reputation has only grown bigger, not just in the realm of country, but in popular music as well. Although she only achieved two #1 songs in her career (‘I Fall To Pieces’, ‘She’s Got You’), she released some of the most beautiful music that has truly stood the test of time and is still loved by millions.

Five weeks after her death, Patsy’s record label Decca released “Sweet Dreams” that had been previously recorded. The song is still popular today, and often covered by other country music artists. The title of the song was also used in a Patsy Cline biopic starring Jessica Lange, which was released 1985. Take a listen and a look at some of these old photos, which create the perfect backdrop for this somber, yet beautiful song. Rest In Peace, Patsy.
