DIY: The BEST Chicken Fried Steak Recipe (VIDEO)

Who doesn’t love chicken fried steak? It’s a southern classic and absolutely delicious, especially during the summer and can be paired with almost anything. As Zac Brown states in his hit song, “it’s filled with love that’s grown in southern ground / and a little bit of chicken fried.”

This recipe is by Hilah Cooking and is her father’s recipe. Below is just a quick step-by-step (not detailed) instruction, so make sure to watch the entire video below for the best directions.

First and foremost: the ingredients (flour not pictured).

Tenderize the steak! Then sprinkle with salt.

Crack the eggs in a bowl and mix them. Set aside and crush the saltine crackers on a plate. Mix flour, pepper and salt in another dish.

Dip the steak in the egg first.

Then the flour mixture.

Then re-dip the steak in the eggs once more and finally cover it in the cracker crumbs.

Grease the skillet with bacon grease, lard, or however (see video for more options) you see fit and place the steak in it.

Cook for three minutes and then flip it and let it cook for another few minutes.

Serve it with your favorite sauce, whether it’s gravy or ketchup and enjoy!
