You would think a birthday entails receiving gifts from other people, but for Darius Rucker, it's quite the opposite.
To kick off his Southern Style Tour, Rucker went onto The Today Show and welcomed Specialist Danial Branham, a veteran of the U.S. Army, onto the show.
Rucker started the conversation by giving Branham a set of tickets to his concert the following day, stating, "[He's] an American Hero. The things he did when deployed, he's just an amazing guy, and he's from my neck of the woods, so I wanted to bring you some tickets to the show, for you and your family."
Yet the tickets were not the biggest surprise that Rucker had for this veteran.
With the help of Military Warriors Support Foundation, Rucker gave Branham and his family a new home in Mt. Pleasant, SC, which is incidentally where Rucker lives.
"You're going to be my new neighbor!"
Rucker was almost as excited as Branham, as he accepted the key to the new home, which is already built and ready to be moved into.
Branham was the first of 11 veterans who will be give a new home, during this summer's Southern Style Tour.
Rucker's generosity is reaching the men and women who put their lives on the line and serve our country on a daily basis.
