"Amazing Grace" is a timeless gospel song that has been covered by many, many artists over the years. But one performance that caught our eye was that of Willie Nelson and the Carter Sisters. This performance was something special, so brace yourselves and prepare to be amazed!
In 1980, Willie was joined on stage by Helen and Anita Cater of the Cater Family. The three sang a breathtaking rendition of the classic "Amazing Grace" and wowed the crowd. We're sure every person in the audience was surprised and amazed by this performance, we know we were!
The Christian hymn, "Amazing Grace", was written in 1779 by poet John Newton. The hymn was written as a personal reflection of John's life. He grew up without religion and because of twist and turns throughout his life, he found God. The song speaks of forgiveness and redemption and how finding God can help clear one of their sins. "Amazing Grace" has been regarded as one of the most recognizable and most famous gospel songs of all time.
Thousands of renditions of this song have been recorded since the songs first appearance in 1779, but like we said, this one was something special!

Amazing grace, How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come,
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.
