A Song About Love & Loss

The song we’re about to share with y’all is the definition of heartbreaking.

This emotional song gives us a look into Loretta Lynn’s heart and how much she missed her late husband, Oliver Lynn. He was also known as “Doo” or “Mooney.”

The White Stripes’ Jack White joined the country legend as her guitarist on the song. It appeared on her Grammy-winning album Van Lear Rose.

Loretta poured her soul in this song. She expressed the longing she still felt for Doo even though he passed away years prior.

The Road To Van Lear Rose

Loretta stepped back from the music business when her husband’s health declined. She slowly made her comeback after he died in 1996.

Her partnership with Jack started at that time. He served as the only producer on Van Lear Rose, which was released in 2004.

The album’s title refers to the Van Lear coal mines Loretta’s father worked at during her childhood.

So Many Emotions

“Miss Being Mrs.” was one of the standout tracks on Van Lear RoseLoretta filmed an accompanying music video for the song. It shows her at home, resting on her bed as photographs of her and Doo appear across the screen.

Her expressive eyes and haunting vocals were placed on full display for the world to see and hear in the music video. Sadly, the music video hasn’t made its way online, but there are plenty of live performances you can watch.
