Lukas Nelson is on his way to making a name for himself in the country music scene. Although he occasionally gets a little help from his famous father, Willie Nelson, he definitely has talent on his own!
His band, Lukas Nelson and Promise Of The Real, is on tour currently and stopped by The Texas Music Scene in San Marcos, Texas to play a few songs, including their unreleased song "Livin' It Up", and chat with Asleep At The Wheel's Ray Benson.
According to Lukas himself, "Livin' It Up" is an, "Old seventies-esque, buddy cop, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, Creedence-mix song. It's got a great vibe to it, it's funky."
The band likes to play it first, because it gets people on the dance floor and excited for what's coming next. They have yet to release the song and don't seem to be in a rush!
"Livin' It Up" has incredible lyrics and Lukas sings them with such passion. He sings, "I've been tryin' to lift you up baby/But you don't care for yourself/And if you don't love yourself/You never love nobody else."
Intermixed with guitar solos, Lukas really shows off his talent in this performance.
