Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man" is one of the most iconic songs in country music history. Wouldn't y'all agree!?
Tammy co-wrote the classic song with Billy Sherrill and released it in September of 1968 from the album of the same name, Stand By Your Man. "Stand By Your Man" was a huge success for Tammy, topping the U.S. country charts (along with charts around the world!) and quickly becoming the signature song of her career.
CMT also placed the song at #1 on their list of the Top 100 Country Music Songs. What an honor!
"Stand By Your Man" has been said to be one of the most covered songs in all of country music history... and we'd have to agree! In the videos below, we've compiled some of our favorite "Stand By Your Man" covers, and we're pretty sure y'all will love them as well!
Let's be honest, between country's legendary ladies like Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, and Tammy's daughter, Georgette Jones, how could you not love these covers!
Don't worry though, we've added a live performance by Tammy herself, because we know there will never be anything greater than the original!
Check out the videos below, and y'all will be missing Tammy Wynette more than ever!
Sometimes it's hard to be a woman Giving all your love to just one man You'll have bad times, and he'll have good times Doin' things that you don't understand But if you love him, you'll forgive him Even though he's hard to understand And if you love him, oh be proud of him 'Cause after all he's just a man. Stand by your man, give him two arms to cling to And something warm to come to When nights are cold and lonely. Stand by your man, and show the world you love him Keep giving all the love you can. Stand by your man. Stand by your man, and show the world you love him Keep giving all the love you can. Stand by your man.
