Recently the duo went into the studio to start recording "Still Feels Like Mexico", a new duet that will be featured on Dunn's upcoming solo album. This is his third solo project, coming after McEntire and Brooks & Dunn started performing together again during their residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
“I played for Reba a song that’s called ‘Still Feels Like Mexico’ and she came back and says ‘I wanna sing on that,’” Dunn explained to Big Machine Label Group. “So just that quick, so sure, why not? How am I gonna tell you no? Are you kidding? I wouldn’t tell her no anyway. She did it, and we mixed it and it’s a duo, a duet.”
There was no question that McEntire would be on the track, and like Dunn said, why wouldn't she be? Of course the pair are not strangers when it comes to collaboration. Brooks & Dunn and McEntire had a two-week stay at #1 with the 1998 hit "If You See Him/If You See Her", and there is also the 2007 "Cowgirls Don't Cry", which also showcased the trios talent together.
There is not yet a release date or title for the record yet, but Dunn did release the first single for the album, “Ain’t No Trucks in Texas”, earlier this summer. We can't wait to hear this new collaboration for ourselves!
