The distinct sound of Bluegrass band, Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road has been a staple in bluegrass music for 15 years. They have a chemistry with the audience, and a certain flair that sets them apart from others in the genre. This uniqueness has made them one of the most popular bands among bluegrass fans today.

For this version of "I Got Mexico" the group teamed up with Eddy Raven to re-record his popular 1984 classic. "I Got Mexico" was Raven's first #1 hit and spent 13 weeks in the Top 40 on the country charts. No wonder they wanted to re-make this popular hit!

Loraine Jordan has been the front woman for Carolina Road for more than a decade and said it was an honor to work with a legend like Raven. In an interview with The Boot, she discussed the experience.

“It was so great working with Eddy! It was such a great fit,” Jordan said. “I was surprised when I learned that he’s always been a bluegrass fan, so that made it even better.”

Jordan is known as the “Lady of Tradition” in bluegrass, and a well known figure in the bluegrass scene. Her Carolina Road bandmates are some of the best musicians in country and bluegrass music: Ben Greene (banjo), Goforth, Jason Moore (bass) and Brad Hudson (dobro).

LYRICS BELOW

I just got tired of that same old job,
Tired of fightin' that freeway mob.
I bet you never thought I'd really go,
I'd never get as far as Mexico.

But I've even learned to speak the language some,
Down on the beach drinkin' coke and rum.
You wouldn't know me with this golden glow,
Soakin' sun in Mexico.

I'm eatin right and I'm livin good,
Doin' everything I said I would.
I should have left a long time ago,
Who needs you? I got Mexico.

Through it all nothing's really changed,
No matter what honey that's a shame.
I still love you that's the way it goes,
He's got you, I've got Mexico.

But I'm eatin right and I'm livin good,
Doin' everything I said I would.
I should have left a long time ago,
Who needs you? I got Mexico.

I'm eatin right and I'm livin good,
Doin' everything I said I would.
I should have left a long time ago,
Who needs you? I got Mexico.

I'm eatin right and I'm livin good,
Doin' everything I said I would.
I should have left a long time ago,
Who needs you? I got Mexico.
